API-611 Steam Turbines’ safety and performance can be greatly improved by replacement of original hydraulic lever arm and remote style valve actuators with modern roller screw electric actuators. Extremely precise and much faster responding, the EA Upgrade stabilizes speed control for less turbine wear. Depending on the total valve stroke length required, electric actuators are either mounted directly in-line with a spoolpiece for greater than 1.5-inch stroke or offset using a ladder pivot for less than 1.5-inch stroke. In either arrangement maintenance drops to near zero and obsolescence is defeated.

If the candidate turbine has been equipped with a digital electronic governor it may be retained, otherwise the Package 2.3 LCC Series 3 Governor should be optioned to establish position demand.
